Northwave - Northwave wins the ambitious IF Design Award!

The new MAGMA XC CORE shoe is one of the TAIPEI CYCLE d&i awards 2020 winners. The MAGMA XC CORE shoe, fully developed into the NORTHWAVE LAB, impressed an entire jury consisting of experts and renowned designers from the bicycle industry thanks to the innovative design, the innovative details and for being the first winter cycling shoe in the world using Primaloft®. The TAIPEI CYCLE d&i awards is one of the most highly respected design award in the international cycling industry, hosted by TAITRA and the TBA and executed by iF DESIGN ASIA Ltd. In this particular 2020 edition, the jury has chosen 40 products that, for different reasons, have excelled and brought particular innovation into the cycling world. Francois Liang, chairman of the jury, said: “This year, the award echoes the trends that are responding to a global demand” And continuing with regards to the Northwave Magma XC Core: “This is the first winter cycling shoe using Primaloft technology. Insulation is a key benefit during winter, especially in cycling when you need your feet to stay warm. Primaloft lining provides one of the highest insulation/weight ratio in the market. The Magma XC Core provides insulation both on the upper and in the sole” Said the Jury. About MAGMA XC CORE The XC and marathon shoe is designed for the coldest winters. Thanks to the 200g Primaloft® gold insulation ECO thermal padding made with recycled material, the shoe guarantees exceptional thermal insulation and breathability. Thanks to the additional lining on the tip the feet remain warm and dry also in extremely cold conditions; the new Easyfit Climaflex collar guarantees protection and excellent freedom of movement. The power transmission is given to the Jaws Carbon Reinforced sole with a 8.0 stiffness index and natural rubber tread heel for extreme grip on every terrain. The overlap upper construction with reflective inserts allows a uniform foot wrapping without any pressure points. The TPU inserts protect from lateral impacts and the SLW2 dial closure system - the only one with a step-by-step release - allows a millimetric adjustment in a fast and intuitive way. The integrated heel seat with unidirectional fiber inner material prevents the heel lifting, while the Arctic 4Layer insole (Eva/Aluminum/Eva/Pile), together with the Thermal Shield Lasting Board (EVA / Aluminum) create an efficient thermal insulation.
